In Latin there is a difference between the phrases in statu nascendi (using the ablative case) and in status nascendi (using the accusative case). The former implies “being in a state” whereas the latter implies “transitioning into a state”. In English usage of these phrases, this distinction is usually not maintained, so that these forms are used indiscriminately; however, in statu nascendi is the more common form.
