From Proto-Germanic *hrabnaz, whence also Old Frisian ravan (West Frisian raven), Old Saxon hravan, hraƀan (Low German Raav), Old Dutch ravo (Dutch raaf), Old High German raban (German Rabe), Old Norse hrafn (Danish and Norwegian ravn). Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *ḱorh₂-, whence Latin corvus.
