hoeven

Dutch

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /ˈɦufə(n)/
  • (file)
  • Rhymes: -uvən

Etymology 1

Unclear. Cognates are attested much more sparsely, and later, than those of the prefixed form behoeven. It therefore appears that hoeven is a back-formation from behoeven.
