- The morphological analysis in Schulze 435 f. is indefensible: Indo-Germanic suffix -ios with e/o-nouns both with and without stem-final vowels, hence on the one hand -e-ijos Greek -ειος Latin -eius, on the other hand Greek -ιος Latin -ius. The main evidence for Greek -ειος, the Aeolic use of patronymic -ειος with o-stems, is an innovation; this -ειος is used as a universal suffix with consonant stems.
