Usage notes
- used for shoes with stiletto heels and a generally open design. It may be closed- or open-toed and strappy (sandal-like) or simple (court shoe-like). By contrast, heeled shoes with thick soles or with wedge heels are referred to as compensées (platforms), and closed lace-up shoes as bottines (à talon) (ankle boots, booties).
