(politics) A district represented by one or more elected officials.
When comparing voting systems, it is important to know how many representatives are elected from each electoral district.

Usage notes

Electoral district is a formal, academic term. It is often shortened to district, however other terms are used depending on the variety of English. In Canada, although the common term for a federal or provincial electoral district is riding, electoral district is the term used in legislation.
