Etymology

Diminutive of dredhë, merger of sing. *dradhë and pl. *dredh, from Proto-Albanian *dradzā, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰreh₂ǵ-seh₂, from *dʰreh₂ǵ- (berry). Cognate with Sanskrit द्राक्षा (drā́kṣā), Latin frāgum. Alternatively from dredh (twist).[1]
