ddim

Welsh

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /ðɪm/

Particle

ddim

  1. Soft mutation of dim.
Dw i ddim yn hoffi coffi.
    I don’t like coffee.

Usage notes

The negative particle dim occurs as / is mutated (lenited) to ddim when it appears directly after the subject of the sentence, which is very often. Colloquially the mutated form ddim is found also at the beginning of a clause, as in Ddim o gwbl! (Not at all!).

dim can be reduced to 'm in colloquial speech.
