Cognates include Lithuanian kepùre, Proto-Slavic *čepьcь (Russian чепе́ц (čepéc, cap), Belarusian чапе́ц (čapjéc, cap), Czech čepec (cap), čepice (hat), Polish czepek (cap)), Ancient Greek σκέπη (sképē, cover, shade, protection).[1]
