From archaic and now chiefly dialectal (Arbëresh) budhë + collective suffix -, from Proto-Albanian *budjā, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰudʰmḗn (bottom); compare Lithuanian budė̃ (tree-fungus), bùdė (whetstone),[1] Sanskrit बुध्न (budhna), Ancient Greek πυθμήν (puthmḗn, foundation), Latin fundus (bottom, piece of land, farm). Lent Romanian buză.
