Albanian

Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *bukura, derivative of *buk- (lush, lusty), from Proto-Indo-European *bʰoHu- (to grow, swell), close to Proto-Germanic *būkaz (belly, body), compare Icelandic búkur (torso), English bouk, Old Czech buj (mad, foolish)). Similar sense development as with kolmë. Related to bukël. The Proto-Albanian root probably had a cognate in Dacian.[1]
