bloen

Dutch

Etymology

Blend of blauw (blue) + groen (green). Blending the words the other way would have resulted in grauw, which would have led to confusion because it already was a name for a colour (namely grey), so this blend was used instead.

Adjective

bloen (comparative bloener, superlative bloenst)

  1. grue (colour)
