bezmetic

Romanian

Etymology

Probably from Slavic *bezъmъ, compare Ukrainian безматок (bezmatok, hive without a queen). Another proposed etymology is from Vulgar Latin amphisbēticus, from Ancient Greek ἀμφισβητικός (amphisbētikós, fond of disputing, contentious) (compare Italian bisbetico). Compare also the variant dezmetic, possibly influenced by or related to the verb desmetici.[1]
