From Ottoman Turkish بایلمق (bayılmak, to faint; swoon away, to be excessively delighted), from Old Turkic [script needed] (mayıl-, to soften, relax, become numb),[1] passive of Proto-Turkic *bAńɨ- (to fade away, disappear, weaken).[2]
