Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *baśkā, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰedh-sko (bundle, heap). Cognate to Ancient Macedonian βάσκιοι (baskioi, fasces, bundle), Ancient Greek φάσκωλος (pháskōlos, leathern bag, sack), Latin fascis (band, bundle) and Middle Irish basc (collar, neck chain).[1]
