asmuți

Etymology

Uncertain. Possibly from a change in conjugation from the form asmuța, from a Vulgar Latin root *exmucciāre (with variant form amuța from a *ammucciāre; cf. dialectal French amoisser); alternatively from a *assubmotiāre, or *ammotiāre, from Latin motus[1].
