Yasuɛ

Kabyle

Etymology

From Arabic يَسُوع (yasūʿ), the Christian Arabic form of the name, which due to the lack of a surviving native Christianity is not well-known in north-western Africa. Kabyle Christians, most of whom are recent converts to Protestantism, have originally used the Islamic name Ɛisa, but Yasuɛ seems now to have replaced that form to some degree.

Proper noun

Yasuɛ m
