Etymology

Borrowed from Persian تهران (tehrân). Ahmad Kasravi believed the word "Tehran" is derived from an Indo-European language and originally meant "the hot place" ("teh" or "keh" meaning hot, and "rān" meaning "place of"). (Karvand Kasravi, page 273)
