Steinarr
Old Norse
Etymology
From Proto-Norse *stainawarijaʀ (*stainawarijaʀ), which consists of *staina- (*staina-, “stone”) and *warijaʀ (*warijaʀ, “defender”), from Proto-Germanic *stainaz (“stone”) and *-war-. In some cases, the second part of Steinarr might stem from another root, and would be cognate to Old High German Steinheri.
