    Men sedan Ryssland 1801 tagit Grusien i besittning, måste det söka förvärfva äfven Dagestan, som skilde Grusien från Ryssland samt försvårade och hotade förbindelsen mellan båda länderna.
    But since Russia in 1801 had occupied Georgia, it must seek to acquire also Dagestan, which separated Georgia from Russia and obstructed and risked the connection between the two countries.
