Proper noun
Coereba f
- A taxonomic genus within the family Coerebidae – the single species Coereba flaveola (bananaquit).
Usage notes
Prior to 2005, Coereba was placed within family Coerebidae. Since then, many authorities consider that family obsolete; however, agreement on the proper placement has been lacking. Some place it within Emberizidae, but it appears to be part of a group now placed in Thraupidae. For details, see
