    1. Posture the nondominant hand in the “3” shape about half an arm's length in front of and beside the chest, extended fingers of the nondominant hand pointing across the body toward the dominant side (contralaterally).     2. Move both hands to the following posture.
    3. Posture the nondominant hand in the “S” handshape in front of the center of the chest, tip of the nondominant hand pointing across the body toward the dominant side (contralaterally). Posture the dominant hand in the “S” handshape knuckles contacting knuckles of nondominant hand, tip of the dominant hand pointing across the body toward the nondominant side (contralaterally).
  • When used as a noun, both its postures are held briefly (a common ASL hold pattern for nouns).
