From Iranian *-čan. Compare Parthian [script needed] (-cn /-čan/) in [script needed] (šʾdcn /šādčan/, happy), Sogdian [script needed] (-cn /-čan/, inclined to; belonging to), ultimately from Proto-Indo-Iranian *kan-, *čan- (to love, take pleasure in).
