Etymology

From -ից (-icʿ) + (-s, adverbial suffix). The -ից (-icʿ) is either from Proto-Indo-European with a parallel in Old High German zuiski or is the genitive-dative ending of երից (ericʿ), չորից (čʿoricʿ) applied to the rest by analogy.
