Past perfect of म्हण्चे (mhaṇce, “to say”). Compare Marathi म्हणून (mhaṇūn). Literally meaning "having said that".

Derived from the Old Marathi and Marathi verb म्हणणे (mhaṇṇe, “to say”). From Old Marathi म्हणउनु (mhaṇaunu) or Old Marathi म्हणौनि (mhaṇauni, “gerund”), Maharastri Prakrit 𑀪𑀡𑀇 (bhaṇaï, “verb”), from Sanskrit भनति (bhanati, “verb”).
