• The form ұйғұр (uyğur) is more common in average use, however the official use is either уйғур (wyğwr) or ұйғыр (uyğır). There is no difference of which to use, as with мұнда (munda) and мында (mında); it only reflects a slight difference in pronunciation. However note, this situation is messy with уйғур (wyğwr) being identical to Uyghur self-designation and used perhaps especially in the southeast while ұйғыр (uyğır) is a Kazakh designed form in the north. The latter is the standard but officials also use уйғур (wyğwr) so it is not perfect clarity.
• Sometimes the plural ұйғұрдар (uyğurdar) is used with the form ұйғұр (uyğur), however it is technically incorrect.
