From Katharevousa ἀγυιά. Τhe ancient ᾰ̓́γυιᾰ (águia) (rarely found as ᾰ̓γυιᾱ́) revived in the 19th century to substitute the demotic σοκάκι (sokáki) which was a Turkish loanword.[1]
