Portaro was een Portugees automerk.

Geschiedenis

De onderneming FMAT (Fabrica de Máquinas Agrícolas do Tramagal) begon in 1974 met de productie van terreinauto's onder licentie van het Roemeense origineel ARO 240 4x4. De merknaam is samengesteld uit Portugal en ARO. Vanaf 1978 volgde de export naar andere landen. In 1998 stopte de productie. Jaarlijks werden circa 700 auto's gebouwd.
