Michelle Shocked

Michelle Shocked (Dallas, 24 februari 1962), eigenlijk Karen Michelle Johnston, is een Amerikaanse singer-songwriter. In haar muziek en optredens klinkt, naast haar Texaanse afkomst en haar liefde voor Amerikaanse folkmuziek, ook een sterk politiek bewustzijn door.

De artiestennaam Michelle Shocked is een verwijzing naar de psychologische aandoening shell-shock.

Haar grootste hit in Nederland, Anchorage, is in een akoestische solo-uitvoering te vinden op de cd Het beste uit tien jaar Twee Meter Sessies.

Michelle is de oudere zus van de muzikant Max Johnston.
