Biografie

Allen is een dochter van Julie en David Allen en werd geboren in Portland, maar groeide op in Bainbridge Island met haar twee zussen. Zij heeft de high school doorlopen aan de Bainbridge High School in Bainbridge Island. Hierna ging zij studeren aan de Wellesley College in Wellesley waar zij afstudeerde in 1996 in sociologie. Voordat zij actrice werd was zij werkzaam bij de New York City Police Department als raadgeefster in zaken met huiselijk geweld.

Allen is vanaf 2006 getrouwd met Bruce Weyman met wie zij een zoon heeft.
