Gus McNaughton

Gus McNaughton (29 juli 1881 – 18 november 1969), ook bekend als Augustus Le Clerq en Augustus Howard, was een Engels filmacteur.

Loopbaan

McNaughton verscheen in 70 films tussen 1930 en 1947. Hij werd geboren in Londen en stierf in Castor, Cambridgeshire. Hij wordt soms gecrediteerd als Gus MacNaughton. Hij verscheen op het podium vanaf 1899, als een jonge komiek met het Fred Karno-gezelschap, de invloedrijke Britse Music Hall-groep. In films werd McNaughton vaak gecast als de "snel sprekende sidekick", en hij verscheen in verschillende populaire George Formby-komedies van de jaren 1930 en 1940. Hij verscheen ook tweemaal voor regisseur Alfred Hitchcock in Murder! (1930) en The 39 Steps (1935).
