Arie Schans

Arie Schans (12 december 1952[1]) is een Nederlandse voetbalcoach.

Carrière

Zijn loopbaan als trainer begon in 1971, toen hij assistent-trainer werd van FC Wageningen. Bekend werd hij door de documentaire The Other Final, over een wedstrijd in Bhutan waar hij tot 2003 Bhutaans bondscoach was. Hij was van 1977 tot 1985[2] en van 2001 tot 2004 ook trainer van GVVV, waar hij als eerste trainer in het amateurvoetbal als fulltime trainer aangesteld werd.

In 2005/2006 was hij trainer van het Japanse Oita Trinita, en in het seizoen 2006/2007 was hij trainer van Changchun Yatai. Met deze club werd hij kampioen.

Hij was als laatst nog trainer van Namibië, met die ploeg streed hij voor de Afrika Cup in 2008.[3]

Momenteel is hij coach van Nanchang in de Chinese Football Association Super League. Ook is hij adviseur van het Chinees Nationaal elftal, waarmee hij in januari 2011 naar de Azië Cup in Qatar ging.[4]
