Geschiedenis
De Amerikaanse evangeliste Aimee Semple McPherson liet de Angelus Temple voor haar kerkgemeenschap bouwen, de International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, een pinksterdenominatie. De kerk werd op 1 januari 1923 ingewijd. Oorspronkelijk konden er 5300 mensen in de kerk zitten, wat de Angelus Temple tot een van de grootste kerkgebouwen van de VS maakte. In de jaren 20 en 30 was McPherson een evangelische sensatie. In het begin preekte McPherson elke dienst, vaak op uitbundige manier, om publiek te trekken. De kerk groeide uit tot een eigen kerkgenootschap, genaamd de International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. Begin 1920 hield McPherson haar eerste preek via de radio, waarmee ze de eerste vrouw was die dit deed. Rond het midden van de jaren twintig was zij uitgegroeid tot een van de invloedrijkste en bekendste personen in de entertainmentwereld.
In 1992 werd de tempel erkend als National Historic Landmark. Tegenwoordig houdt de Angelus Temple Hispanic Church haar vieringen in het gebouw.
