Career

On film Wilder may be best known for her role in West Side Story as Consuelo, Pepe's girlfriend, (credited under her maiden name as Yvonne Othon); while younger audiences may better recognize her for her television roles, especially that of Irene Katsopoli, Jesse Katsopolis' mother on the American sitcom Full House.

Her partnership with Jack Colvin, led to one of the most successful comedy duos of the 1960s, Colvin and Wilder.

Other notable works include Silent Movie (1976 film) as the Studio Chief's Secretary, Seems Like Old Times in the role of Aurora De La Hoya, and Operation Petticoat as fictional U.S. Army Nurse Maj. Edna Howard, among many other parts in a career which began in the 1950s and includes some 54 films.[1]

In much of her work as a comedic and character actress Wilder has portrayed strong, endearing, quick-witted Latina women not to be trifled with.
