Yuri Kisil

In spring 2020, Kisil signed with the Toronto Titans, the first Canadian based team in the ISL.

In 2019 he signed with the London Roar in the inaugural ISL season. London Roar was one of the four team to reach the ISL's season finale, in Las Vegas, December 2019 where they finished in 2nd place.[2]

At the 2019 Canadian Swimming Trials, Yuri qualify for his third FINA LC World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.

In April 2017, he was named to Canada's 2017 World Aquatics Championships team in Budapest, Hungary [3][4] where he won two bronze medals in relays.

At the 2016 FINA SC World Swimming Championships (25m) in Windsor, Ontario, he earned a bronze in the 4×50m Mixed Freestyle relay.

Yuri compete at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia, where he won a bronze medal in the inaugural 4x100m Mixed Freestyle relay.[5]

Kisil's selection to the 2013 FINA World Junior Championships in Dubai was his first major junior international competition. At this event he became the Canadian 15-17 Age Group LC national record holder in the 50m Freestyle.

In 2019 Yuri was named Swim Ontario Male Athlete of the Year and received the Bob Pirie Trophy.

At the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo, Kisil captured bronze in the 50m Freestyle, his first individual international medal.

Kisil was part of the University of British Columbia swimming team, winning multiple gold medals at both the conference (Canada West) and national (U Sports) levels.[6]

In 2018, he was named U Sports (formerly CIS) Male Swimmer of the Year for the second consecutive season and earned his third and second consecutive Sprinter's Cup with gold medal finishes in the 50m and 100m Freestyle. He also added a silver in the 200m Freestyle and gold medals in the 4x100m Medley relay, 4x100m Freestyle relay, and the 4x200m Freestyle relay.

At the 2017 U Sports Swimming Championships in Sherbrooke, QC, Kisil won the Sprinter's Cup by bringing home gold medals in the 50m, 100m, and 200m Freestyle events, all in personal best times. He was also a member of the 4×100m Freestyle, 4×200m Freestyle and 4×100m Medley relays that all won gold medals.

In 2017, Yuri received the Big Splash Award (Canadian Male Swimmer of the Year) from Swimming Canada; the Swammy Award (Canadian Male Swimmer of the Year) from SwimSwam Magazine; Canada West Universities Conference (CWUAA) Male Swimmer of the Year; Swim British Columbia Male Athlete of the Year; University of British Columbia "Outstanding" Male Athlete of the Year; and U Sports (formerly CIS) Male Swimmer of the Year.

In September 2017, he was named to Canada's 2018 Commonwealth Games Gold Coast team.[7][8]

In 2016, Kisil was named to Canada's Olympic team for the 2016 Summer Olympics.[9] He was part of the relay team that finished seventh in the 4x100m Freestyle final, and individually got to the 100m Freestyle semifinals [10] finishing 10th.

In 2015, Yuri was named Swim Alberta's International Male Athlete of the Year, and Canadian Interuniversity Sports (CIS) Male Rookie of the Year.

He won the Sprinter’s Cup at the 2015 CIS Championships, where he helped the University of British Columbia to the overall title earning wins in the 50m and 100m Freestyle.

Yuri also won multiple medals (all as a part of relay teams) at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada.

In 2014, Kisil was named the province of Alberta's Junior Male Athlete of the Year; Canada West Universities Conference (CWUAA) Male Rookie of the Year; and Swim Alberta Junior Male Swimmer of the Year.

He was named to Canada's 2014 Commonwealth Games Glasgow team where he placed 4th in the 100m Freestyle.

Yuri was the youngest swimmer in Canadian history to win both the 50m and 100m Freestyle National Championships at the Canadian Swimming Trials in Victoria, B.C., on April 3, 2014. He was also the youngest Canadian to ever swim under 50 seconds in the 100m Freestyle at the same event.

He competed for Team Alberta at the 2013 Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Quebec, where he earned 3 gold, 3 silver and a bronze medal.

In 2013 Yuri became the Canadian 15-17 Age Group LC national record holder in the 50m Freestyle.
