Ysfeilion

Ysfeilion (Welsh: Ysfeilion) — sub-kingdom dependent on Kingdom of Gwynedd. Formed in the V century, covered the territory of the island Anglesey and the opposite coast Menai Strait.

History

In the 5th century, the island of Anglesey was liberated from the Irish. After the death of Cunedda this island became the possession of one of his many sons — Ysfael Gwron[1]. After his death, the Irish managed to occupy part of the island. But Meilir, the son of Ysfael, along with his brothers Kineer and Ineigr and his cousin Cadwallon, freed Inis Mon from the Irish[2]. Usually after this the state is called Mailirion.
