Notable alumni
- Dave Bennett, baseball player[3]
- Dr. Austin Sendek, class of 2008, invented of the SI unit prefix "hella" to designate a figure with 27 zeros following. Dr. Sendek was also known for a notable 3-year tenure as the "Miner Bob" mascot at home football games. During a night football game in 2007, Dr. Sendek (dressed as "Miner Bob"), fell from the top of the bleachers but was lucky as his giant paper mache "Miner Bob" head cushioned his fall. Dr. Sendek went without the "Miner Bob" head for the remainder of the football season and just wore a big cowboy hat instead (much to the chagrin of the student body).
- Ray Coleman, Major League baseball player
