Willis Willard Elliott

Willis Willard Elliott (August 7, 1799 - July 10, 1900) was an American Confederate soldier who was born in the 1700s and died in the 1900s.

Life

Willis Willard Elliott was born on August 7, 1799, to John Elliott (1771-1804) and Susannah Claugher (1775-1814) in Rowan County, North Carolina. His father died when he was four. His mother died when he was 14 or 15, leaving him to fend for himself for the remainder of his teenage years.

Sometime before 1822, he married Mary Vanderpool, who was born approximately a year after Elliott. Sometime in 1822, they had their first child, William. They had a total of eleven children, the last of which was born in 1840.

On April 12, 1862, the American Civil War began. Elliott fought on the Confederate side. Two of his sons were killed in the war.

His wife died in 1889. He died on July 10, 1900.
