Whiskey highball

A whiskey highball or ginger ale highball is a two-ingredient cocktail consisting of whiskey (typically rye whiskey, as its spicy notes complement those of the ginger ale)[1] and ginger ale or (to make a whisky soda) plain soda water. When Irish whiskey is used, it is an Irish buck. Variations include the Mamie Taylor, Presbyterian, Irish Gold, John Collins, Whiskey fizz, Seven and Seven, and Leprechaun.[2]
