Waide Simon Fairhurst (born 7 May 1989) is an English professional footballer who plays for Barton Town.

Playing career

Fairhurst made his Rovers debut in a 1–0 loss against Coventry City. He substituted Mark Wilson in the 84th minute. Fairhurst made his home debut in the 2–0 win against Crystal Palace. He came on with half an hour to go and set up James Hayter for Rovers second goal.[1] In the 2009–10 season, Fairhurst made his first start for the club against West Bromwich Albion and managed to score seven minutes into the game. His second start, came against Ipswich, which he opened up the scoring with a goal.

In October 2009, Fairhurst signed for Shrewsbury Town on a one-month loan deal.[2] He equalised for Shrewsbury Town on his debut against Aldershot.[3] He scored again to help Shrewsbury Town beat Telford United 2–1 and regained the Shropshire Senior Cup.[4] Later his loan deal was extended until early January, 2010.[5] Fairhurst found the net with a goal from inside the six-yard box, his fourth league goal for Shrews, during the home match against Macclesfield Town on Boxing Day,[6] he picked up a foot injury and expect sideline for three weeks.[7]

On 6 October 2010, Fairhurst joined Southend United on a one-month loan deal. On 10 February 2011 he joined Hereford United on an initial months loan and scored twice on his debut two days later against Cheltenham Town.

On 19 July 2011, it was confirmed that Fairhurst had signed a two-year contract with Macclesfield Town.[8]

Fairhurst signed on a free transfer for Lincoln City on 17 May 2013.[9]

On 31 January 2014, it was confirmed that Fairhurst would be joining up with the team he left just 6 months earlier Macclesfield Town. The deal was a one-month loan deal. He re-joined them on a permanent deal that summer. Fairhurst finished the 2014–15 season as the Silkmens leading goalscorer with 13 goals in all competitions, and also lead the assist count in the entire league with 16 assists.

In January 2016 he left Torquay United citing personal reasons.[10]

He signed for F.C. Halifax Town on 6 February 2016.[11]

He joined Boston United in June 2016, where he scored once in 14 league appearances.[12]

In January 2017 he joined Frickley Athletic.[13]

In January 2018 he joined Brighouse Town FC.[14] In March 2018, he moved on to join Sheffield FC.[15] Fairhurst was on the move again in November 2018 when he joined Handsworth FC.[16] He then had a short spell at Maltby Main,[17] before returning to Handsworth on 21 September 2019.[18] One month later, Fairhurst left Handsworth once again, to join Barton Town.

Playing style

Fairhurst is an energetic, creative forward, who is just as effective with either foot and he is a versatile attacker, capable of playing anywhere along the front line, as a striker, supporting forward, or even as a winger. he's even been deployed in a deeper, more creative role, as an attacking midfielder because of his passing ability. Fairhurst has also been praised for his work-rate and stamina.
