Virginia House, Tallaght

Virginia House, or as it was known in Irish, Arda Acha an Lur, was a farmhouse built in 1837. The farmland belonging to the farm now hosts many of the most important features in Tallaght, including Tallaght Stadium, The Square Shopping Centre and the South Dublin County Council county hall.

In 1996, the building was restored and became an art centre, and hosted many artist exhibitions and the yearly 'Tallaght Unplugged' music competition. The building was sold in 2003 and promptly destroyed. The 13 floor apartment complex which stands on the site where Virginia House once stood is also named Virginia House in its honour.[1]
