Vince Steckler

Vincent Steckler (born 1958/59) is an American businessman, and former CEO of Avast Software.

Early life

Steckler was born in Los Angeles, but aged two moved to Garden Grove, Orange County.[2] He earned bachelor's degrees in mathematics and information and computer science from the University of California, Irvine.[2][3]

Career

Steckler was investigated by the US Securities and Exchange Commission for six years in an "accounting scandal", which he eventually settled for $35,000.[4][5] When working for Logicon he was responsible for a $7million order with Legato Systems, "that was cancelled yet found its way onto the books".[4]

Steckler joined Symantec in 2000,[2][4] rising to vice president of Japan and Asia Pacific.[3]

Steckler was appointed as CEO of Avast in 2009.[1][3] He retired on June 30, 2019, and was succeeded as CEO by Ondrej Vlcek, Avast's consumer business president.[6]

Personal life

Steckler is married with five children.[7] His wife was born in Singapore, and they met there.[2][7]
