Veteran's Memorial Bridge (Portland, Maine)

Veteran's Memorial Bridge is a bridge connecting the cities of Portland, Maine and South Portland, Maine. The bridge spans the Fore River and is part of U.S. Route 1. The original Veteran's Memorial Bridge was built in 1954 and was described as 'rapidly deteriorating' prior to its demolition. Designated a top infrastructure priority by Maine state government, a new bridge was built beginning in 2010.[1] The new bridge was completed on November 30, 2012.[2] General contractor Reed & Reed of Woolwich, Maine was awarded the rebuilding contractor.[3] Reed & Reed estimated the new bridge would stand for 100 years.[4]
