Vanglaini

Vanglaini is a daily newspaper in Mizoram, northeast India, published in Mizo language.[1] It is registered with the Registrar of Newspapers for India (no. RNI 34227/79. : MZR/67/2012-2014). It is owned, edited, and published by K. Sapdanga. It remains the newspaper in Mizoram with the largest circulation.[2][3][4]

Mizo Award

Vanglaini has instituted the "Mizo Award" to any living Mizo or group of Mizos who have made exemplary achievements. The first award was given in 2011, and was scheduled to be given every three years. The award carried INR 100,000 with a trophy. From 2017, the award money was doubled to INR 200,000. [5][6]

Recipients

  • 2011, Brig T. Sailo, retired Indian Army officer and former Chief Minister of Mizoram.[7][8]
  • 2014, SÃĒngthankima, social worker and humanitarian who founded Thutak Nunpuitu Team.[6][9][10][11]
  • 2017, Joy Pachuau, Professor of history at Jawaharlal Nehru University, and author of Being Mizo and The Camera as Witness: A Social History of Mizoram, among others.[12]
