As of 2001 India census,[1] Uppidamangalam is located approximately 12 km east of Karur city with a population of 10,039. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Uppidamangalam has an average literacy rate of 62%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 50%. In Uppidamangalam, 8% of the population is under 6 years of age. Uppidamangalam has the second largest cattle market in Tamil Nadu.It is a famous for its Sunday market. Which attracts people from various states like kerala and Andhra. cattle breeding was one of the fast growing occupations in these area. Village Government hospital was present in the outskirts of uppidamangalam, rather than there are lot of private clinics and well known pharmacy like Tamil Nadu pharmacy are all available in and around south gate which is mainly crowded zone of the village. Electronic shops, Pest shops and Tea shops quite more compared with the average of the town. Surroundings of uppidamangalam is well known for its educational institutions like Higher and lower secondary Government schools, Rani meyyammai, Karur saraswathi vidyalaya etc. Agriculture was their main occupation apart from that cattle breeding, textiles and imports are all major occupations in this village. It is one of the fastest growing village compared with its past decade development index.
