Tyson Hesse

Tyson Hesse is an American graphic novel illustrator and animator, best known for his work on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

Career

A longtime Sonic fan, Hesse first began working on the franchise as an artist for the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series from Archie Comics. He later served as the animation director on trailers and animated cutscenes for the 2017 platform game Sonic Mania and its promotional mini-series, Sonic Mania Adventures.[1] Hesse also directed the Team Sonic Racing Overdrive shorts promoting 2019's Team Sonic Racing.[2] Hesse has also contributed to IDW Publishing's Sonic the Hedgehog comic series,[3][4] and was the lead artist on the redesign of Sonic in the 2020 Sonic the Hedgehog film.[5]

Hesse is the creator of the webcomic Diesel, and serves as writer and artist for the webcomic's follow-up graphic novel, Diesel: Ignition.[6] Hesse has also contributed art to Dream Daddy and the comic book series The Amazing World of Gumball, based on the television series of the same name.[7][8]
