Trevin Giles

Trevin Giles (born August 6, 1992) is an American mixed martial artist (MMA). Giles currently competes in the middleweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Background

Giles was born in San Antonio, Texas, and was a football defensive player at Taylor High School. Giles started martial arts training when he was 20 years old.[2]

Mixed martial arts career

Early career

Giles started his professional MMA career since 2014 and fought under various promoters such as Fury Fighting, Legacy Fighting Championship, Legacy Fighting Alliance, Resurrection Fighting Alliance, Legacy Fighting Alliance and amassed a record of 9-0 prior signed by UFC.[4]

Ultimate Fighting Championship

Giles made his UFC debut on July 8, 2017 against James Bochnovic at UFC 213.[5] He won the fight in round two via knockout.[6]

His next fight came on December 9, 2017 at UFC Fight Night: Swanson vs. Ortega against Antônio Braga Neto. [7][8] He won the fight via knockout in the third round.[9]

Giles faced Zak Cummings on May 18, 2019 at UFC Fight Night: dos Anjos vs. Lee.[10] He lost the fight via a guillotine choke submission in the third round.[11]

As the last fight of his rookie contract in the UFC, Giles faced Gerald Meerschaert on August 3, 2019 at UFC on ESPN 5.[12] He lost the fight via technical submission in the third round due to a guillotine choke.[13][14]

Giles was scheduled to face Antonio Arroya on February 8, 2020 at UFC 247.[15] However Arroyo pulled out a day before the event due to medical issues and he was replaced by James Krause.[16] He won the back-and-forth bout via split decision.[17] The win also earned Giles his first Fight of the Night bonus award.[18]

Giles is expected to face Jun Yong Park on August 1, 2020 at UFC Fight Night 175.[19]

Personal life

Trevin and his wife Coreyonna have a son (born 2019).[20] Giles is a police officer, working for the Houston Police Department.[21][22]
