Education and early career

Traver Kennedy graduated from Bowdoin College in 1975[1] with a degree in Music, majoring in Classical Voice. After graduating, Kennedy opened an audio and video store, which eventually began selling computers. Following this, he started a career as a computer consultant.[2]

ASP

Kennedy eventually came to work for Citrix Systems, as the director of advanced business,[3][4] then as vice president for strategy and Chief Strategist, and later as the company’s Chief Evangelist.[5] In 2001 NetworkWorld magazine named Kennedy on its list of the twenty-five most powerful people in networking. While at Citrix, Kennedy worked on developing and distributing early versions of application service providers,[2] in addition to early cloud technology[6] and other forms of moving computing from the user device into the Internet.[7] This led those in his industry to refer to him as the “father of the ASP industry”.[8][9] Kennedy was also the founder[10] and Chairman of the ASP Industry Consortium,[3] founder of the ASP Arbitration, Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center at the World Intellectual Property Organization,[11] and was a founder and Chairman of the Mobile Enterprise Alliance.[5] He also served as a public speaker for ASP and related industry issues and industry conferences and meetings.[12]

Other industries

In 2015, Kennedy co-founded Joi Scientific, where he currently serves as Chairman and CEO.[6] The company develops technology for the development of hydrogen fuel from seawater,[13] and has been criticized for promising impossible efficiencies that would violate the first law of thermodynamics.[14] Some of the company's technology was based on the work of discredited inventor Stanley Meyer,[15] and during the summer of 2019 the company announced that their technology was substantially less efficient than previously described and that they were running out of funding.[15]

In 2006 Kennedy became the vice-president of community and governmental affairs for DayJet.[1] During this time he also served as Chairman of the National Air Transportation Association’s Environmental Committee.[16] Kennedy is also the founder of Molecular Power Systems.[17] Kennedy is on the board of directors for AI firm HiConversion,[18] and has served as Chairman of the Palm Beach County Early Learning Coalition.[19]
