The Queen of My Self

The Queen of My Self was first published in 2005 by Monarch Press.[1] It is one of four books written by Donna Henes, known to many as "Mama Donna", to help women navigate their middle years asserting that this is the prime of their lives.

Henes describes how she wrote the book to help others like her with no role model to follow in this area. "We have outgrown our tenure as Maidens and as Mothers," says Henes, "yet old age no longer follows immediately after menopause, which is why so many midlife women don't see ourselves (yet) as Crones. Where is the authentic archetype for us?"[2]

The Queen of My Self has received numerous praise since its publication. Among those who have commented is Christiane Northrup, M.D., author of Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom and The Wisdom of Menopause, who says, "Finally, an archetype of midlife power and maturity that I can relate to – The Queen. Thank you Donna for providing this much-needed missing piece of women's wisdom."[2]

Other accolades come from Academy Award-winning actress Olympia Dukakis, who says of the book, "Insightful, funny, a treasure, from one of the best 'goddess gals' around."[2]
