Founding

Ernest Dianastasis founded an autism employment program at Computer Aid, Inc. in the early 2010’s, which focused on finding work environments for individuals diagnosed with autism. After working with Delaware Governor Jack Markell and organizations like the National Governors Association to promote the cause, in 2016 he founded the organization The Precisionists in Delaware in order to provide “services to companies to help them incorporate more autistic workers”.[1] The organization is based in Wilmington, Delaware,[2] and Dianastasis serves as their CEO.[3]

Programs

In 2018, the organization has set up pilot programs with Independence Blue Cross,[4][5] and it has worked with both private companies[6] and public departments in finding opportunities for the autistic community. Individuals are provided with a four-week job training program in conjunction with state innovation technology centers before matched with prospective employers,[3] and develops new centers as a part of moving into new regions.[7][8] Part of the training is done in order to determine what jobs each individual would be best prepared for.[9] The organization later set up an operation in Nashville, Tennessee,[10][11] and partnered with both public organizations and private companies in Arizona.[12][13] They opened a hub in Philadelphia next, and they have also placed workers with companies in other states, including New York[14] and Ohio.[15]

Recognition

In 2018 The Precisionists were awarded the Adam Heavner National Award by the Autism Society of America.[16]
